Huntly Championships 2011

Desipte torrential downpours this year’s rollerski championships went off with fewer hitches than previous years.

A strong contingent came from Cairngorm Biathlon and Nordic Ski Club and we also had representatives from the RAF and the Army.

Cairngorm athletes took 1st and 2nd place in the mens seniors competition with Carl Carrier of the RAF taking third place. Huntly fans will be delighted to hear Posy Musgrave took first Senior Female with Army team members Abi Horner and Emma Cope taking 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

In the U18/U18 classification Caringorm’s men’s team, in the person of Rober Sircus,  took first place with Huntly Stuart Gray taking second and Caringrom’s Hector Cowie taking third. Katie Homyer of Highland Nordic took 1st place in the Women’s competition.

In the U14/U12 compeition Huntly skiers took 1st place in both genders  with Duncan Gibb and Beth Maclean  taking the honours.  Oliver and Fergus Newman continuted their fierce rivalry taking 1st and 2nd place in the U12 boy’s competition.

In the Novice race Connor Lowe and Shauna Perry took 1st place. The are both faces to look for in future.

Paul Gray for his first time as Chief of Competition – one of of the problems of doing such a good job Paul is that you will be asked to do it again.
Claire Newman for registration (with assistance from Patricia Barron) & also becoming our Chief Time keeper.
Rick Newman for organising the marshalls & co-ordinating the lap counting.
Kirsten Shanks & Carys Thorn gave a flawless display in lap counting.
Alan Telford once again efficiently compiled the results.
Despite a few tumbles in the wet conditions Sandy Thorn was not called on to administer serious first aid but is thanked for providing that support.
Ian Cooper run an excellent BBQ.
And finally we must thant Chris Barton & the students of Gordonstoun for their help on the day.
