I recently attended a course on child protection run by Aberdeenshire Council. One of the subjects which came up was codes of conduct for club members.
This was raised at a recent comittee meeting and proved to be a very conterversial subject. Some people thought it was a good idea, others saw it as part of the onslaught of bureaucracy that is engulfing society.
I’d be interested to hear comments from club members, should we have a code of conduct and if so what should it contain? Please use this posting to share your views….
Alan,
There are merits in having a code of conduct which all can subscribe to based upon common sense. It is generally seen as good practice and useful to have in case of a rare occurance. I am not suggesting that we have anything too onerous as this would encourage a little rule breaking, just to apply some common sense and curtusey. The should be positive not negative in structure.
We do have some a code for the use of the toilets in the forest “Do doos and donts” – making light of a boring subject. Its very light now the doors have blow off the loos!
On that note, I will end this comment.
