It has been a busy summer with roller skiing, wind farms & Ski Centre developments to keep us occupied. Roy, in his unique style, shares his experiences of racing in Canada last season. Unfortunately skiing in Canada gives Roy ideas (not always a safe thing), now he wants more hills, more bends, well just more of everything for the Clash. The refurbishment of the Ski Centre & the building of the rollerski track is great news not only for Huntly but also cross country skiers throughout Scotland & the UK. We have already been making good use of the new access road with our Thursday evening sessions & I hope to see more of you there (7:30pm, sessions run up until Christmas). Although we should be very pleased with these new facilities I become disappointed with the provision of recreation facilities in Britain when I read (Ski Nordic No.37) of 50km long dedicated tarmac cycle tracks in France or the superb network of cycle tracks in Holland. In this country we see a few cycle signs on relatively quiet public roads or a white line drawn half a metre from the kerb, not really much of an encouragement for cycling or rollerskiing. Rant over, I've just seen the first sprinkle of snow on the top of the Buck, the ski season is on its way.

I have received a complimentary copy of a new board game Schuss. Let me know
if you want a look, with Xmas coming up it might solve a present problem or
are board games still unfashionable? (costs £29.95). ·

CLUB EQUIPMENT - I remind all members that Club equipment must be signed out
from the Ski Centre using the sheets in the Club file. It is great to see
the kit being used so much but I have had some problems tracking where it
all is. Kit should be returned clean & in good condition. Rollerskis lubed
& skis waxed. Broken pole tips must be replaced (cost £3.00 per tip). We have
decided not to charge for use of rollerskis (too complicated), however skate
skis will still have a small hire charge. All of us have an individual responsibility
to sign out, look after & maintain the kit.
